Why the "worthless blog?"

1. Because most blogs, including this one, are worthless.
2. Because we Langworthy's often used to call ourselves "Langworthless" and then we'd laaaauuugh and laaauugh.
3. Because this blog is not just about me, but also about all my "worthless" siblings (and Brody!)

The actual blog has yet to be built... Will I spend the time to make a real blog where you can leave comments? Maybe, but probably not... Will I fake it and just add comments about the family whenever I feel like it? You betcha...

May 14, 2011: Well I did the half marathon in October of last year. It was super awesome and something I would do again. Then, as planned, Dale and I got preggers with another brother or sister for Nigel. So s/he is coming in a couple months and we're still stripping the floors upstairs. As with the first, the house is not ready but we have all of Nigel's left-over stuff so the kid will be fine. Speaking of Nigel, he'll soon be jumping into the summer session of swim classes on his quest to be the next Michael Phelps. He's more and more awesome and funny in his actions and conversations - he currently has a bruise on his forehead from smashing into a table and one on his cheek from who knows what; he did a faceplant into the mud when he slipped getting out of the car today... He feeds his little brother or sister through my belly button and constantly lifts up my shirt to hang out with him/her... Oh and I just finished my first class of my second undergrad degree in Visual Arts. I got an A on my final photography portfolio! In addition to maintaining her own massive GPA in college, Kendra is getting to know the twins twice a week while Jill and Corey try to jump back into somewhat normal work lives. Their kids are pretty damn cute - looking forward to seeing them in August. Kelly's moped got smashed by a hippie driver in Sacto, but she's OK thank goodness! Brody is kicking major ass in volleyball so I'm afraid I've put my Olympic hopes on his lean mean shoulders - let's hope he doesn't disappoint his favorite auntie Casey.

August 13, 2010: Let's see... what's been happening since December of last year... Nigel just turned two - can't believe it! He's super smart, hilarious and overall a pretty radical dude. But I still blame him for my fat @ss so I'm currently training for a half marathon in October. The big state fair starts this weekend so... you know... that's pretty exciting stuff 'round these parts... we tried to put up a pool this summer, but ended up with a green pond filled with dead leaves and carcases of Japanese beetles. We went swimming in it, of course, but it's just not as fun when you have to shower immediately afterwards. We met Kelly in Chicago a couple months ago - aaahhh so nice to be back in the city. She fell in love with the city so maybe she can rent out my beloved first home someday. Corey and Jill just dropped their twins last month - Presley and Cooper popped out and are doing well despite the fact that they haven't yet met their favorite aunt yet! Brody starts high school this year and is playing football - he's pretty badass, but I can still drop him without breaking a sweat. And Kendra kicks off her second year of college - you go sister girlfriend!

December 18 , 2009: Happy Holidays!! (and no, I don't mean "Merry Christmas"). You people weren't kidding when you said I'd have no time once I had a kid... He's almost 1 1/2 now and he's already taking after mom. He falls on his face every other day. He smashes his head and gets wounds but doesn't care. He goes where he knows not to go then turns around and smiles (I think that's a baby's version of the finger). Kendra just completed her first semester back at school - she just scored 100% on a final!! Kelly is welcoming Shakira into her home while Corey and Jill continue to make their house a home down in beautiful, ethnically diverse Costa Mesa, CA (that's the OC, people). We're living out on a farm in central Illinois (Petersburg, where Lincoln's first girlfriend is buried) - I can't believe I live here but the big sky and quiet atmosphere is nice. I'm not sure how I'm gaining so much weight - restaurants suck balls out here. My favorite nephew Brody will come out again next summer to help us plant some herb in our vegetable garden.

May 24 , 2009: Oh holy bageezus I can't believe it's been so long since I did anything to the site... let's see, I got a dog for Christmas (Sally), we had a Las Vegas wedding in March, and I got a promotion so we'll be moving out to Peoria, IL in July - we're thinkin farmhouse... I mean, if we're going out to the middle of nowhere, may as well try to completely embrace kuntry livin! We'll be adding a gunrack to the CRV this weekend. Corey and Jill are still livin' the dream in the OC, Mom got hitched and Kendra is squatting in mom's old place in Oceanside as she ramps up for school in the fall. I can't believe how time has flown but Brody has become a guitar-playing, volleyball-spiking, football-watching teenager! Kelly and I tried to get world cup tickets, but were denied in both sales phases so we can pretty much kiss South Africa goodbye...

October 2 , 2008: The other day Nigel had a piece of lint on his lip. I can remember something in me begging me not to do it, but as I think back on it I can only remember it in dramatic slow motion: I lifted my hand to my face... I made a hitch-hiker's thumb as if I knew I was about to take a journey from which I would never return... using a mind of it's own, my tongue slowly slithered out of my mouth and drenched the tip of my thumb... I tried to fight it, but my hand made its own way to his precious fat facewhere I wiped that string off his lip with my spit-soaked finger. It's official - I'm a mother.

August 24, 2008: Just as I told you people from the start, Nigel and I had an understanding that he would wait until we were ready for him. I had a talk with him Saturday night (August 9) to let him know the upstairs floors and our bedrooms were done and that Monday's date was pretty cool so it'd work for us if he wanted to come into the world on the 11th... he's such a good boy who listens to his mom already!! He's a day short of 2 weeks old today and Dale and I already live in fear of the little booger. We cower to his sleeping habits and are slaves to his eating schedule... but somehow we don't mind! Don't get me wrong, I'm pooped, emotional and sometimes cranky, but Dale's being supportive and kind so it's getting better by the day. His birth was the most painful thing I've ever been through, but I was able to stay away from the epidural even with the pitocin drip so yipee for me!! Also no 'roids and the perineum stayed in tact during the passing of Nigel's big, fat head!!

July 28, 2008: Due in 2 weeks, but the child and I have an understanding... s/he will not come until we're good and ready. In order of importance we need to: 1) sand, stain and seal the hardwood floors downstairs 2) move furniture from our bedroom to its final resting place downstairs 3) stretch my naughty bits so I don't rip in half (did I mention the midwife estimated the little turd at 8 pounds last week?!) 4) rip up carpet in upstairs hall and our bedroom 5) move our bed from the kid's room (where we're currently sleeping) into our bedroom 6) install the bamboo floors in the kid's room 7) get a piece of furniture for the kid to sleep in 8) grout the tile in the upstairs bathroom 9) install bamboo floors in the upstairs hall and our bedroom 10) pick a name for the new addition. All of this can be accomplished in 2 - 3 weeks so the little one has agreed to stay put where it won't cause much trouble while we take care of business...

May 2 , 2008: Am I seriously having a kid in 3 months?! I've finally decided on a theme for the kids' room - think Rainforest Cafe! So now all we need is a house to put the room... We close on May 15th so keep your fingers crossed! Let's see... the "glow" of this glorious event so far has meant feet and legs swollen beyond recognition, debilitating fatigue every day, the blackest dark circles under my eyes, acid reflux creeping up my throat every night and the most horrendous, atrocious gas (and I don't mean the funny kind - you know how you sometimes enjoy the smell of your own farts? With these, I want to puke and cry at the same time because I can't stand to be in the same room as myself). But all this seems to be working for the kid - it's moving around, kicking and punching me all day every day. Still no names picked out. Still afraid of the baby stores...

December 28 , 2007: Christmas update... Everyone was at Mom and Jerry's for Christmas. Why we haven't had me and Dale , Corey and Jill , Kendra, Brody, Kelly and Ken all together for the holidays in years! I got a cold the night before Dale and I flew out there so taking the golf clubs was a big waste of time. I was laid up for most of the first 4 days. Then we went down to sunny San Diego. As I started to feel like I was getting over the cold, we heard Mom complain of a stomach ache... After a fun-filled day of gifts, love and food, Kendra and Brody puked up Christmas dinner all night long (we thought Kendra was just drunk, but child Brody?!). Kelly drove home the following morning, but had to pull over to puke into Qunicy's dog bowl all the way up the 5! Dale and I were scheduled to leave later that day, but our flight was cancelled. We were able to jump onto another one just hours later... I was starting to feel a little pukey, but I was 3 weeks pregnant so it could have been the fetus... On the plane I was up and down, but I also get the motion sickness so one can never tell what it might be... Then on the descent, BBBOOOUUUUGGGHHHH AAAAHHHH BBBLLLAHHAAAAGGGGHHHH in to the puke bag behind the seat. BBBLLAAAHHGGHH Then the puke bag broke and my sick poured down Dale's leg and pooled on the floor... after a few more days of dry heaves and bile, I started to feel better. Merry Christmas everyone.

December 16 , 2007: Ken was featured in a fan photo (scroll to December 12) for the St. Lous Rams! We're finishing up the last of our home-made Christmas gifts tonight - the rest are bought and waiting to stuff into my golf bag to take out to Cali for some Langworthy Christmas fun on Wednesday! Kendra's dreams will come true when we see Wicked before heading down to stay with mumsies in San Diego. Kelly's dreams will come true when she gets Kalob back (his piss-and-runny-poop party on our awesome circular couch - after a year of cleaning puke and li'l pee puddles - was the last straw for ever-so-patient Dale). But the poor little kitty has turned into a fat midwesterner (like yours truly) so he's off to get back into shape in image-conscious California! It's snowing in Chicago! Yesterday, I was finishing up some shopping while the snow fell around me and Christmas songs played on my ipod - it was so magical! Happy Holidays, all!!

November 1 , 2007: On the plane to Maryland... I think I'm still drunk from Halloween... I'll recruit important business women for two days, then I'm off to WHQ (that's business talk for world headquarters) for 2 weeks of sales systems training - yee haaw! Corey's movin on up with his spiffy new job at his orange county company so be sure to pat him on the back the next time you see him... I need to update my site with pics honoring Kish's and Cheryl's visit, but I'm too busy working in elevators (if you know what I mean)...

August 4, 2007: I've been quite the little city girl today... I went to the art festival downtown and bought a canvas print from this artist from Russia. He said he'd like to "sketch me" (if you know what I mean). I think that's a line he uses to make people buy his stuff, but if he ever calls I'll drop trou in the name of art! So then I biked on down to the lake and started to read, but then I fell asleep pretty quickly... then I jumped back on the bike and went to a coffee shop in the trendy/gay part of town and read my paper. I shared my table with 2 german-speaking bike-riders sipping their cappuccinos! So now I'm home - it's 7pm and I'm ready to sleep... I might be a city girl, but I'm still an old fart!

July 21, 2007: I'm about to fly out to HQ (that's business talk for "headquarters") for a meeting of the minds in CT (that's an abbreviation for "Connecticut") because I'm an important business woman. I've learned a lot about elevators over the last month and I have only this to say: be careful out there and try not to get your head chopped off... speaking of heads getting chopped off, Dale bought a motorcycle. 1974 BMW - he's a "coooool rider" (Grease 2, anyone?), but I have yet to get on that thing without screaming in fear for my life... And we bought our circular couch/bed today!

June 13, 2007: I realized how self-centered I've been... here's a quick update on the rest of my boring siblings: Corey is kickin' ass at Edelman and is still married - going strong as he and Jill approach the 2 year mark! Kendra is running the show as usual at Pacific Corporate & Title Service and trying to bring that rugrat into his teen years without pulling all her hair out. Brody is 11 now and is heavily into World of Warcraft (influenced by Dale, of course) and everything Wii - he enters the 6th grade next Fall. Kelly's in another strong Langworthy sibling marriage going on its 3rd year. She works with the state of California busting law-breakers. Her hubby Alfonso just cut his hair. Ken's somewhere in Tahoe - anyone seen him lately?

June 11 , 2007: So Dale and I made it to Chicago! We're settling in, biking, walking, exploring, drinking and eating (a lot). We both already feel more at home here than we ever did in Minneapolis - no offense to Minneapolis, but Chicago is the bomb! (are the kids still saying that?)... aaaaannyywwwhhooo... I start work in a week so I'm researching Otis and finishing up adding the Japan pics to the website this week.

May 4 , 2007: Congrats to the Carlson MBA class of 2007!! Congratulations because we graduate in a week? No... BECAUSE WE KICKED THE ASS OF THE OTHER CLASS DURING THE CARLSON CUP ANNUAL SOCCER MATCH FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW!! WE ARE THE WINNERS AND STILL CHAMPS!!! So how did we go undefeated for all our MBA years? Did we practice? No... Did we have natural skill? We wish... Did we have luck on our side? No way... So how does a team of rag-tag players come together to win? Because we've got HEART, dammit!!!

April 8, 2007: So I'm back in the US and back in school. Trying to keep up with finance and learn about ethics while I look for a place to live in Chicago (move date: May 31). I grad'ate on May 14th and the whole "worthless" family is coming out!

March 1, 2007: In Japan still & I've had the avian flu for 3 full days now - including the happiest day on earth: my birthday. I was on day 1 of the flu when I turned 34, but I went out to karaoke anyway. Was it my stellar rendition of Neil Diamond's "America" that did me in? Or was it my energetic "Hot for Teacher" serenade to my marketing professor that pushed me over the edge? Who knows... but one thing is sure, no matter how sick I am, my hair always looks rad... and for Brody's first entry, he wanted everyone to know, " I have the Wii, suckers!!"
