Brody and I explored the Redwoods for 4 days.

after 2 and a half grueling hours in an air conditioned car, we finally made it to the redwood forest

brody heads into his first drive through tree

aaaand he made it!

the trunk of a fallen tree

the first night we had an informational campfire about the banana slug

then we went back to the campsite and practiced our manners

can you believe we found a real live banana slug the very next day?

people used to live in the house carved out of a live tree trunk - front door behind brody

this was a different kind of tree house for children cut out of a smaller tree trunk

brody liked this second drive through tree

this picture doesn't really show the magnitude of this fallen tree, but it was unbelievable

here's the Giant Tree while brody balances his protection stick

brody practices the moves he picked up at model camp this summer

this one just shows how huge the giant tree trunk is

here's brody bustin' some moves on a fallen trunk

i gots a few moves myself, pretty boy

we slept under trees just like this. it was amazing.

brody was in good hands with his stable and caring aunt

this trunk had fallen across a ravine so i told brody to climb on top and walk out in the middle...

i left him there, walked couple hundred yards away and told him to jump up and down on the tree trunk sitting over the 100 foot drop. it was the only way to get a cool shot of his little body on that huge thing!

later on, we found another trunk that had fallen across the river so we climbed up and peed into the water!

brody is sitting on top of a fallen tree - this is the tree's root structure

so brody's climbing on the fallen trees and i head around the corner to take a picture. there i found this sign!! ahahaaa! (in case you're blind, the sign says "PARK VISITOR To help preserve the integrity of these fallen giants and for your safety, PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB ON THE DOWNED TREES")

deer and fawns followed us everywhere we went...

we were screwing around off trail and we found this femur!!

after a hard day of hiking, we jumped into the refreshing river running past our campground

my first panoramic picture with my new camera!

i brought mardi, rufus and caesar to find a final resting place for my little babies

we ate more smores than i care to remember...

after getting sick from the chocolate and mallows, we plopped down on the cot we found near the trash

brody relaxes in our outdoor palace

these white flowers are all over the ground where rufus, mardi and caesar have become one with the forest

they are resting in a gorgeous area of the woods that is protected from visitors

brody planted his protection stick among the ashes

before we left the area, heaven's light broke through the trees and shined on the ashes as if to say "welcome to the redwoods."

brody was the king of the forest

and another dip in the river before we left

we had a bonfire in the honor of the animals on our last night...

...where brody and i gave it up for our homies.

and i left a little piece of myself behind to keep the pets company

this was our favorite tree in the whole park

i found this pose to be strangely familiar

we took the long way home and cut west towards the ocean where the fog hung low over the trees

brody did a dance of homage to the green forest...

...and rocked the house along the coast

we snuggled for a cute picture by the water... GET YOUR HAND OFF YOUR FACE, BRODY!

PUT YOUR HEAD NEXT TO MINE SO WE CAN HAVE A CUTE, INTIMATE F*#@KING MOMENT!!!

AND IF YOU SQUINT YOUR EYES IN ONE MORE PICTURE, I'M LEAVING YOU HERE TO DIE...!!!!
